The council's website still says at http://www.barking-dagenham.gov.uk/8-leisure-envir/refuse/recycling-orange.html that Yellow Pages shouldn't be put in the orange recycling bags. I thought this had cahnged, but couldn't find out where I heard if from, so I contacted Shanks East London and got this response:
"Thanks for your enquiry, Yellow Pages can now be recycled in your Orange Recycling Bags, Apologies for the mix up i will get this looked into and get this changed as soon as possible.

Of course the best thing to do is to contact Yellow Pages (Customer Service Team on 0800 555 444) and ask them not to deliver you a copy in the first place. I did this and it works.
